In the seventies and eighties Sting was a world-famous singer, songwriter and front man of British pop trio The Police. After the group split up it soon became apparent that Sting's musical quest went much further than most could have foreseen. With his debut album, 1985's The Dream Of The Blue Turtles, he immediately demonstrated his preference for jazz. Together with, among others, the very young saxophonist Branford Marsalis he amazed the world. In subsequent years all jazz greats have played with the now 62-year-old Sting. These past years he has toured all over the world with his Back To Bass tour. His band includes guitarist Dominic Miller, with whom he has worked for many years, as well as top drummer Vinnie Colaiuta, whom we know from Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea and Frank Zappa, among others.
