Every two years, the Nationaal Jeugd Jazz Orkest changes its lineup and bandleader. In 2011 Benjamin Herman was at the helm of the big band performing at North Sea Jazz. In 2013 the command has been taken over by Rotterdam trumpeter Eric Vloeimans. He is the new artistic leader, director and soloist of the Nationaal Jeugd Jazz Orkest, that gives twenty talented young top musicians the opportunity to perform as much as possible. The talents who shone with Herman at North Sea Jazz 2011 and also performed at festivals like Lowlands, are now setting their own course. Vloeimans is now captaining a completely new generation of talent, not older than 22 years of age. This temporary top orchestra performs existing compositions, as well as new ones written for the big band by Vloeimans
