Jon Batiste, bandleader from Kenner, Louisiana, was born into the famed Batiste dynasty. At a young age he joined the Batiste Brothers Band, where he developed into an outstanding drummer. When he was twelve he made the switch to playing the piano. Five years later, Batiste brought out his first album, Times In New Orleans and the musical world could get to know his incredible talent. Two years later he gave a concert in the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. He also gave several workshops in our country, resulting in an invitation to the prestigious Carnegie Hall in New York. These past years, Batiste has mainly toured the world with his quintet, Stay Human Band. He is also a sought-after actor in television series and even played in a movie by director Spike Lee. In addition, he played a musical guest role on the albums of Lenny Kravitz, Cassandra Wilson, Harry Connick Jr. and Roy Hargrove, among others.
