In the past, Lakecia Benjamin has worked with Stevie Wonder, Alicia Keys, The Roots and Macy Gray, but this summer she's doing it herself. The charismatic saxophonist and bandleader is bringing the album Retox with her to the North Sea Jazz Festival. An album on which she steps back as a saxophonist and steps forward as a composer. In fact, you won't even hear the American's sax on quite a few of the numbers. Nonetheless, soul and funk set the mood and a cover version of Stevie Wonder's Don't You Worry 'Bout A Thing is the spectacular highlight on a must-have album. With a full-to-bursting address book, it's no surprise that Benjamin has support on the album from the likes of Amp Fiddler and Chinah Blac.
