JJ Grey & Mofrois a group from Jacksonville, Florida; a city in a well-known swampy region in the South of the US. And you can hear the influence in the band's music: soul, funk, southern rock and blues - it's all there! Singer JJ Grey and guitarist Daryl Hance formed JJ Grey & Mofro at the end of the eighties. The band gathered a devoted following in the US in the nineties. After numerous detours and failed deals, the group had its debut in 2001 with the well-received album Blackwater. But JJ Grey & Mofro was first picked up on the global radar with the album Georgia Warhouse, featuring, among others,Derek Trucks and Toots Hibbert. The band's seventh album This River was released recently. The rawness of JJ Grey's music is perfectly captured on this recording; it is also a major element of the band's high-intensity live performances.
