The life of Mike del Ferro revolves around two main themes. As the son of an Italian opera singer he is of course crazy about music, but the pianist-composer is also a frequent visitor of far-away places. The combination of these two passions has delivered the Amsterdam resident concerts in over one hundred different countries. An album series called The Journey is in the making, based on his travels and the musical connection with exotic cultures. In 2012 the first part of the series was released with the apt titleSongs Inspired By Wandering The Globe. In part two of this series he goes South American with bassist Jeroen Vierdag and drummer Bruno Castellucci. For this project the Mike Del Ferro Trio is again collaborating with the Brazilian vocalist-guitarist Ceumar. The result is exciting and especially melodious improvised jazz with traditional Latin American samba influences.
