European Sunrise is a band that originated out of Take Five: Europe II, the second edition of a program designed to give a number of Europe's most talented and upcoming jazz musicians the opportunity to further develop their skills.
Ten participating musicians from France, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland and the UK will be demonstrating the special result at North Sea Jazz. In January 2013, they came together for a week in the English countryside: trumpeters Arielle Besson (France) and Piotr Damasiewicz (Poland), reed players Arun Ghosh (UK), David Kweksilber (The Netherlands) and Guillaume Perret (France), tuba player Daniel Herskedal (Norway), guitarist Chris Sharkey (UK), pianist Marcin Masecki (Poland), bassist Per Zanussi (Norway) and drummer Marcos Baggiani (The Netherlands).
During their residency, the musicians had the unique opportunity to discuss, explore and strengthen all aspects of their future career, both musical and business related. Due to their combined effort, a strong and unique tentet is the musical result of Take Five: Europe II.
