Diana Krallis a very popular guest at the festival. The Canadian pianist and singer has a lot to offer: alongside a pleasing, sultry voice, she has a magic touch when selecting her songs and backing musicians. Krall has constantly taken new directions throughout her twenty-year-long recording career. She drew from Brazilian traditions on her previous, Grammy-Award winning album Quiet Nights and for her latest recording Glad Rag Doll, dove into the treasure chamber of American musical history. On the album, she worked with producer T Bone Burnett for the first time, and he also plays guitar on some tracks. She is also backed by Marc Ribot on electric and acoustic guitar, bass and banjo, plus a line-up of other talented musicians with their roots in bluegrass. This all results in lovely, moving renditions of songs like Lonely Avenue and We Just Couldn't Say Goodbye.
