Singer Krystl (1983) started out as a dancer, but realized in her teens that singing was an even greater passion for her. At the end of 2010 she was elected Serious Talent at 3FM radio station, when she released her first single, Golden Days. In 2011 she won both a 3FM Award and an Edison, both for Best Newcomer. Last year she released her debut album, Rolling, and toured sold-out clubs throughout the Netherlands. It will be the first time on a North Sea Jazz stage for Krystl, but instead of bringing her own repertoire, the singer will perform a tribute to the legendary Etta James, who died last year. "When I had an Etta James album in my hands for the first time, I was hooked immediately," says the singer. "Such pain, power, rawness and soul! I'm really looking forward to honoring this unique singer at this great festival."
