Talented young pianist Harold López-Nussa was born in Cuba into an especially musical family. His father was a drummer and his mother a piano teacher. As a child he studied classical music and he performed with the Cuban National Symphony Orchestra when he was still in his teens. Later on, he developed an interest in jazz. López-Nussa created a storm with his first album Sobre El Atelier. On his 2009 album Herencia he was supported by legendary singer Omara Portuondo, in whose band he plays regularly. López-Nussa puts his classical training to good use in the pointed rhythms of the music he plays. His playing has its roots in the Caribbean tradition and on occasion it is reminiscent of Michel Camilo, among others. Last year López-Nussa released his latest album, El País De Las Maravillas.
