The latest album of Dutch saxophonist Toon Roos, Angel Dance, is an impressive artistic hole-in-one. Recently, the beautiful album of this artist, who has often performed at the festival, was praised by both national and international critics as a perfect and wondrous album. Roos made Angel Dance with American drummer Peter Erskine, known from Weather Report and Steps Ahead. Not only does the legendary drummer accompany Roos on the album, he will also join him during this concert. Just like on the album, funky jazz will be the central element in Ahoy. Roos and Erskine are inspired by jazz as well as by funk and world music. With Dutchmen Karel Boehlee on keyboards and Hein Van de Geyn on bass, top-quality music can be admired on the Rotterdam stage. Extra special, too, since the latter resides in South Africa these days, and is hardly ever seen live in the Netherlands.
