What's special about the Brussels Youth Jazz Orchestra is the fact that they are led by a new international conductor every six months. One of the previous leaders, Florian Ross, said of his time with the big band: "This band is very eager and full of energy. Clearly the best youth big band I have worked with so far." At the festival, the big band will be conducted by Klas Lindquist. The internationally acclaimed saxophonist received the prestigious Golden Sax Award in 2005 and will put on a swinging performance with the Brussels Youth Jazz Orchestra.
