Two acclaimed big band names who both performed at the North Sea Jazz Festival several times before, are now combining forces. The Codarts & Royal Conservatory Big Band was formed out of the best jazz students from Codarts in Rotterdam and the Royal Conservatory in The Hague and is led by trombonist and composer Ilja Reijngoud. Their special guest is altsaxophonist Rudresh Mahanthappa, who last year was one of the festival's Carte Blanche artists. For this occasion, the conservatories got some compositions from arranger Jim McNeely from the German HR big band.
