Another actor feeling the urge to make an album; Hugh Laurie would be the first to make jokes about it. And a white, English, Cambridge boy to boot, who has the need to play the blues from down South in the US… There's no need explain it, he says: it just happened. Laurie made a name as an actor in BBC comedy series like A Bit Of Fry And Laurie and Blackadder. Younger viewers will know him as the protagonist of the American television series House, M.D.. But ever since his early childhood, Laurie has been hooked on the blues. When he turned fifty, a long-cherished desire came true: to make a blues album. Let Them Talk turned out to be an authentic and finger-snapping album. Laurie has skillfully breathed new life into some of the oldest blues tunes. He sings and plays the piano and is accompanied by New Orleans legends like Allen Toussaint, Irma Thomas and Dr. John. Joe Henry (Buena Vista Social Club) was the producer of the album.
