New York keyboardist Sam Yahel is a master of the Hammond organ. He is able to play his instrument with a funky groove, but can also sound really cool and modern. Earlier, Yahel worked with great names like Maceo Parker and Bill Frisell. He has performed at the North Sea Jazz Festival, when he accompanied Joshua Redman, Madeleine Peyroux and others. This year he will bring his trio to the festival. The Sam Yahel Organ Trio consists of three very strong musicians: Yahel on the Hammond organ, Gregory Hutchinson on drums and Yotam Silberstein on guitar. Hutchinson is a renowned drummer and percussionist (festival visitors will know him from the Joshua Redman Trio and Dianne Reeves). Silberstein is a young Israeli guitarist who now lives and works in New York. The Sam Yahel Organ Trio will stretch the boundaries of postbop considerably and will fluidly mix funk and modern jazz.
