Each year, the North Sea Jazz Festival commissions a promising Dutch jazz composer to write a free composition. This year, the honor goes to guitarist
Bram Stadhouders. Bram Stadhouders (1987, Tilburg) is is the youngest ever musician to be commissioned the MCN Composition assignment. He is considered one of the most interesting and emerging improvising European musicians. In 2011, he performed at the North Sea Jazz Festival with Terje Isungset, playing a guitar made of ice. That same year, he was selected to participate in the Take Five: Europe program. The MCN Composition assignment is commissioned in collaboration with the Fund for the Performing Arts.
