"It's all about being interesting to a wider audience”, said pianist Robert Glasper about his album Black Radio at the end of 2011. He recorded this album with a number of guests, including Erykah Badu, Bilal, Ledisi and Mos Def, but the basis was formed by the same band he will perform with at the festival. Thus we will see bassist Derrick Hodge and Casey Benjamin (flute and vocoder) in the flesh; only drummerMark Colenburg didn't play on the album. The name of the band, Robert Glasper Experiment, came about by accident when a broadsheet in New York incorrectly printed it as the name of the band. Glasper (Houston, 1978) is very particular about choosing the right path. The pianist is equally at home in the jazz world and on the hip-hop scene: “I'm in both worlds as deep as you can get in them, at the same time.” Glasper enjoys music that is very much of our times.
