You may sometimes wonder why certain artists have never appeared at the North Sea Jazz Festival. John Hiatt is just such a case. The 59-year-old singer-songwriter is perfect for the festival in Ahoy with his diversity of styles varying from new wave to blues and country. Hiatt became known among a wider audience with his huge hit Have A Little Faith In Me that has been covered by countless top artists. With Dear John (1999), Dutch singer Ilse DeLange actually devoted an entire album to the music of the charismatic singer from Indianapolis. Last year, Hiatt released his twentieth studio album entitled Dirty Jeans And Mudslide Hymns on which he alternates his trademark dynamic, raw, blues rock with beautiful love songs. In his forty-year-long career, Hiatt has been nominated for a wagonload of Grammys but has never won one. Fortunately, he will be able to cross the North Sea Jazz Festival off his musical wish list this summer.
