“Your sound isn't just your tone,” said Joe Lovano last year about his album Bird Songs. He recorded that album with his group Us Five, a quintet with two drummers. But Lovano (1952) loves variety and this time he achieves it by sharing the stage with the band of trumpeter Dave Douglas (1963). The two have known each other for a long time. They have worked together on albums including Trio Fascination: Edition Two and John Zorn's Stolas. In 2008 they were both members of the SF Jazz Collective that added a new twist to the music of Wayne Shorter. This experience led to the formation of the group that is coming to Rotterdam under the name Sound Prints. A true all-star band, with rising star Lawrence Fields on piano, bassist Linda Oh and the sensational Joey Baron on drums. They will again be performing a tribute to Wayne Shorter.
