The music of Flat Earth Society is difficult to qualify. Musical leader Peter Vermeersch has no stylistic barriers and this is proven by the track record of this Belgian group. Flat Earth Society plays it all. From the soundtrack of a silent film, to embracing a big band opera, or focusing on the dramatic side of orchestral music: anything is possible. At the North Sea Jazz Festival the band is joined by kindred spirit Ernst Reijseger. This cellist is a class on its own and shares Flat Earth Society's love of improvisation. Reijseger, winner of the Bird Award and a Golden Calf for best film music, has in the past played with FES drummer Teun Verbruggen. Expect the unexpected during this Belgian-Dutch collaboration.
