Terri Lyne Carringtoncan really do everything. The 46-year-old American drummer has played with Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter and Stan Getz, among others. She is also a successful composer/producer as well as a professor at the Berklee College of Music. Carrington, whose career already spans twenty-five years, was deservedly rewarded for her contributions to jazz and popular music earlier this year when her latest album won the Grammy Award for Best Jazz Vocal Album. The Mosaic Project (2011) is a beautiful ode to women in music, featuring top-class guest vocalists and instrumentalists like Esperanza Spalding, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Sheila E, Cassandra Wilson, Dianne Reeves and the Netherlands' own Tineke Postma. Carrington visited the North Sea Jazz Festival back in 1990 when she shared the stage with the Kenny Barron Trio. This year, she is bringing The Mosaic Project to Ahoy, where the dynamics of a live performance will add an extra dimension to this unique musical collaboration.
