The collaboration between Norwegian pianist Bugge Wesseltoft and German producer Henrik Schwarz is unique, to say the least. For many years, Wesseltoft has been regarded as a pioneer in electronic jazz. He set up his own label, Jazzland, and the jazz world considers his work with saxophonist and countryman Jan Garbarek in particular to be groundbreaking. His style is often referred to as 'Nu Jazz'. Schwarz made his name as a remixer of songs by pop stars like Michael Jackson, James Brown and Coldcut. When Wesseltoft and Schwarz met on a collective project in 2009, the chemistry was irresistible. Schwarz is able to break down Wesseltoft's often highly complex compositions into smaller pieces and mix these with other fragments. The DJ is known for his love of experimentation with jazz-inspired styles like Deep House. This spring, the pair released their first collaborative album, DUO.
