World famous in Brazil; this is João Bosco in one sentence. One could call it remarkable that this man, who seldom leaves his own country, will be returning to the North Sea Jazz Festival after so many years. Bosco is an icon of Brazilian popular music. His career spans forty years and an equal number of chapters. From the love songs that passed censorship only with difficulty but in which he was able to criticize the military dictatorship in his home country; to his successful and, according to some, mythic collaboration with Aldir Blanc, with whom, among others, he released his latest album Não Vou Pro O Céu Mas Já Não Vivo No Chão in 2009. This could be considered a comeback for this renowned Brazilian artist.
