They both live in the Netherlands but come from Brazil, so they know perfectly well how to interpret a samba; with lyrics full of pain and melancholy, and yet danceable and hopeful. Singer Lilian Vieira is known from the Brazilectro group Zuco 103, guitarist Rogério Bicudo is an interpreter of the rhythmically complex "choro", an instrumental music genre from Rio de Janeiro that leans heavily on improvisation. We know the samba mainly from carnival in Brazil, but according to Brazilians, it is an often misunderstood, lyrical and noble genre. Vieira and Bicudo play classic sambas and choro, as well as other rhythmic styles from popular Brazilian music. Dutch virtuoso saxophonist Toon Roos once again joins the backing trio.
