She has been in the business for almost forty years and has left an indelible mark on soul music. Chaka Khan broke through as a singer in the early 1970s with the band Rufus and she later proved that she could do very well as a solo artist. In the 1980s and '90s she scored hits with soul songs like Ain't Nobody and I Feel For You. The latter was written by Prince, one of the many admirers of her unique voice. But Khan has a voice that can do more than only sing soul numbers: she also shared the stage with Miles Davis and Dizzy Gillespie. This grand lady of soul has won numerous prizes including no fewer than ten Grammy Awards. She is not even close to thinking about retiring. With her band driving her on, she still sweeps audiences off their feet with ease.
