Colin Benders, also known as Kyteman, is one of the two "Carte Blanche" artists this year. Today, Colin Benders has invited his uncle Jacky Terrasson to North Sea Jazz. Terrasson is an old acquaintance of the festival, and he will perform in the Madeira with his own trio. We should thank Jacky Terrasson for giving his nephew Colin Benders the present of a trumpet when he was three years old and for later taking him to the North Sea Jazz Festival. This laid the basis for Kyteman's later success. Uncle Jacky is now present at the invitation of his nephew. But Terrasson is above all a gifted pianist who has released ten albums on the Blue Note label since the 1990s. Terrasson moved to the Concorde label for his latest album Push (2010). It is a CD of widely divergent influences, with music ranging from standards of Thelonious Monk to and hints of Michael Jackson's Beat It. New is that the pianist also sings. In the years since his debut album, Terrasson has earned a place among the better jazz pianists thanks to his excellent technique and original ideas. The Jacky Terrasson Trio is completed by bassist Ben Williams and drummer Jamire Williams.
