When adventurous producers like Flying Lotus, Theo Parrish and Mr. Scruff are queuing up to work with you, you must be especially talented. And a special and versatile artist is just what Andreya Triana is. She has a rock-solid voice, that becomes fragile due to a fitting calmness, timing and phrasing so that listeners are completely drawn into the music. As a child, she used to shut herself up in her bedroom for hours to sing and compile mixtapes. This resulted in a one-woman roadshow, in which the London vocalist performed her own vocals and sampled beats on stage with a looping pedal. The young singer, who already performed at Glastonbury back in 2009, released her debut album Lost Where I Belong last year. On the CD, the British singer uses her fragile yet above all captivating voice to demonstrate that she is the female equivalent of José James. And that is a very great compliment.
