Stevie Wonder shunned the stage for over ten years but his comeback in 2007 was a class act. We had heard from him two years earlier with the album A Time to Love. The man who defined soul and funk music in the sixties and seventies had lost none of his power. He was singing high notes with just as much allure and depth as in his youth. In 2008 he gave two fabulous concerts in Ahoy, at which he played classics from albums like Picture Book, Innervisions and, of course, Songs in the Key of Life. Wonder was honored in 2008 at the White House with the Gershwin Prize; a unique prize that was first awarded to Paul Simon. President Obama personally presented the prize to music icon Stevie Wonder.
