With genius punk-funk-rock guitarist (Chris Sharkey, also known from Acoustic Ladyland), free jazzing sax player (Christophe de Bezenac, who is originally from France) and a machine-gunning drummer (Chris Bussey) the trioVD is one of the most exciting present-day British acts. Their album Fill It up with Ghosts was declared the Best Jazz Album 2009 by Mojo Magazine. The gentlemen from Leeds have already toured various countries successfully. A journalist from England excitedly reported that they "give the audience no pause to relax whatsoever." And now they will be at the North Sea Jazz Festival for the first time. Sharkey has clearly been influenced by Jimi Hendrix, but takes it one step further by doing the unexpected. De Bezenac is a kind of unstoppable "sax machine", which makes for some friction between the two that has Bussey going for a rhythm of his own. For the daredevils among us!
