Starting out in the 1990s Sven Figee (The Hague, 1975) could be admired mostly as the keyboardist in rock singer Anouk's band and as singer Marcel de Groot's accompanist. Since that time he has produced two albums for the vocalist Rose and worked with several other musicians, both in the studio and on stage. In 2006, this much sought-after artist finally had the opportunity to start his own band: Sven Hammond Soul. Together with guitarist Tim Eijmaal, bassist Glenn Gaddum and drummer Joost Kroon, he worked very hard on stage and in the studio to develop the debut album The Marmalade Sessions. The album is an attempt at redefining the "Hammond-driven combo's", with lots of musical guest appearances by well-known artists (Benjamin Herman for instance) as well as first-timers (like the singer Sherry Dyane), but always with Figee as the radiant center of attention, grinding and groaning away. This is party music at its best!
