Pianist Franz von Chossy (Munich, 1979) has been living and working in the Netherlands since 1999. In 2006, he graduated cum laude from the Amsterdam Conservatory of Music. He also had lessons at the Manhattan School of Music. Von Chossy won the 2006 Dutch Jazz Competition for his "original, dynamic and often virtuoso playing". He also won the Best Soloist prize. Von Chossy's music covers a wide terrain in which you can hear elements of both classical and jazz music - but always related to the jazz tradition; music with shades of Ravel and Debussy as well as Keith Jarrett. Von Chossy's concerts are always emotionally charged. On his recent album, Pendulum, he again lets us hear what the art of the trio should sound like with major roles for bassist Clemens van der Feen and drummer Paul Wiltgen.
