The Castel/van Damme Kwartet was founded in 2009 by pianist Thierry Castel and saxophonist Jasper van Damme. They played together a lot at the Rotterdam Conservatoire, but this is the first formation in which they perform their own compositions. Their music is typified by its diversity and powerful lyrics.
