There is no need to introduce pianist Kenny Barron. The master from Philadelphia has developed into a pioneering, innovating jazz pianist these last twenty years, and was able to shed the sideman stigma completely, from the time he used to accompany artists like Stan Getz, Freddie Hubbard and Ella Fitzgerald. With Getz he produced the classic Bossas & Ballads: The Lost Sessions. At the moment Barron teaches at the renowned Manhattan School of Music. In a live setting he performs in a trio with Kiyoshi Kitagawa on bass and Jonathan Blake on drums. Together, they posses an explosive sound, filled with innovative and surprising turns. At times, they are accompanied by tenor saxophonist David Sánchez, who adds his own special qualities and who is very much in demand also, these days, with his quintet.
