After a forced leave of absence (due to a finger injury), sax player/clarinetist Maarten Ornstein is very busy at the moment. Of course, his activities include his successful and unorthodox group DASH! but also Jungle Boldie, a trio in which drummer Wim Kegel and bass player Tony Overwater (one of the most creative performers on that instrument at the moment) participate. When the group was started in 1989 it first carried the name The Maarten Ornstein Trio, later became The Tony Overwater Trio and has now acquired a new one altogether. Ornstein: "Our group has performed for over twenty years now, it was time we released our first trio album." At the end of March 2010, Jungle Boldie was presented, an album with music that is completely of and in itself and that is performed at an astoundingly high level. Jungle Boldie is a trio of topnotch Dutch musicians who celebrate their musical friendship with a wide-ranging repertoire.
