His single Wicked Ways was a big hit and Waylon became the first Dutchman ever to sign with the legendary Motown label. Still, Waylon's success didn't happen overnight; the singer had been working on his career for years. He started out with a country album recorded in the USA and toured with the great names in music. Meanwhile, the thirty-year-old singer has found his musical destination and, with his second studio album Wicked Ways, proves to be one of the greatest new soul talents in the Netherlands. Apart from his powerful voice and a successful combination of soul and rock, Waylon has another feature: his outstanding live performances. In January he was the revelation of the Noorderslag Festival. A nice precursor for his North Sea Jazz debut.
