Tenor sax player Emilio Castillo has been the undisputed leader of the immensely popular live act Tower of Power since 1967. In the beginning he called his band The Motowns, but when baritone saxophonist Stephen "Doc" Kupka arrived, the band's name changed to Tower of Power. In the early seventies, the two albums Bump City and Tower of Power delivered an equal number of hit singles. Although vocalists and rhythm sections came and went, the horn section of TOP remained intact. Over the years many great names in the international music business have asked the ten-man band to accompany them. Elton John, Santana, Bonnie Raitt and Toto, to name but a few of the dozens of acts that chose for the dynamics of this extremely swinging funky machine. At the moment the band is working on a new CD.
