With his debut album Lucky 9teen, Mike Slott confirmed his status as an innovative producer. The album is full of idiosyncratic beats but at the same time the music resonates with warmth and tenderness. He has a wide world of sounds that is atmospheric with an intelligent swing. Slott's reputation as a hip-hop producer is largely due to his work with Hudson Mohawke and the Heralds of Change. He has also had tracks on compilation albums by Mary Anne Hobbs and the Beat Dimensions. Earlier, Slott made singles for All City and remixes for Clinite and the famous Warp label. Slott is the son of jazz legend Mike Nolan and his brother Luke is a composer of contemporary music. He comes from Dublin, was active for a time on the Glasgow dance scene and now lives in Harlem, New York. Slott will soon be making recordings with the Dutch DJ Martyn, who has caused a furore with his dubstep, among other things.
