John Escreet, who is only 25 years old, is generally considered to be one of the most talented and innovative pianists of his generation. The British pianist-composer is mainly known for his formidable technique and complex arrangements. Currently he resides in New York, where he developed a new sound by blending the knowledge of classical music he learned in Europe with American jazz. His debut album Consequences (2008) received many prizes. "A dream start for a new voice in jazz," wrote American music magazine DownBeat. Last year, Escreet performed at the North Sea Jazz Festival with Lars Dietrichs' band The Story. This year he will present his quintet at the festival, which includes the progressive jazz artists David Binney, Ambrose Akinmusire, Matt Brewer and Nasheet Waits. A lineup with the most exciting and groundbreaking musical talents from New York.
