The members of the London-based Loop Collective are able to demonstrate the freshness and modernity of acoustic jazz. The collective was founded in 2005 by a number of young jazz artists as a platform and network of like-minded souls. A record label, Loop Records, and a festival soon followed. The members aren't exactly connected by a single genre, but rather by a creative contemporary approach of jazz. Key figure in the movement is Danish bass player Jasper Hoiby. One of his projects is the trio Phronesis, which has Hoiby on double bass, Ivo Neame on piano and Anton Eger on drums. In Great Britain Pronesis is called "the most exciting piano trio since EST," and is praised for its inventiveness and yet warm and accessible sound. The trio's first two albums Organic Warfare (2007) and Green Delay (2009) received rave reviews. Their third album will appear this summer.
