Dianne Reeves is very well known at the North Sea Jazz Festival: just last year she sang with Simone Simone and Lizz Wright in Sing the Truth - The Music of Nina Simone. Later that same year, in November 2009, she was awarded the Edison Jazz Oeuvreprijs. "The music I make comes from my heart, from my soul. I don't need to make any compromises to make it." For over thirty years the singer form Detroit has been recording albums that have a surprising sound time and again. At the start of her career, Reeves was accompanied by trumpeter Clark Terry and she then went on to a glittering solo career. Today, musicians like the much-in-demand Brazilian guitarist Romero Lumambo play in her lineup. Her latest album, the multifaceted When You Know, was produced by her nephew George Duke.
