Albatrosh is a Norwegian duo consisting of André Roligheten on sax and Eyolf Dale on piano. Although the young men are just 25 years old they have already toured China. They have known each other since elementary school and have now played together for eight years. Their music is wonderfully difficult to grasp and moves somewhere between chamber music and bop. They only play their own compositions which have a lot of room for spontaneous interventions. The combination of written music and improvisations makes their music exciting without the two musicians ever becoming lost in aimless ramblings. Listeners constantly have the idea that the music is moving in every direction while it actually remains an organic whole. Last year, they won the European Jazz Competition which is why they are performing at the North Sea Jazz Festival this year. Soon after the festival, Albatrosh will release a second album to follow up their debut album Seagull Island.
