The Story is an acoustic-electric performance collective based in Brooklyn, New York, consisting of an international ensemble of five extraordinary musicians-composers from diverse cultural backgrounds: Lars Dietrich from the Netherlands, Samir Zarif from the United States, John Escreet from the United Kingdom and Zack Lober and Greg Ritchie from Canada. The Ottawa Citizen wrote that 'the group makes unfettered music that impresses with its daring and trust.' In the short time since its inception, The Story has already been acclaimed as one of the most exciting new groups originating from New York. Each member came to this city seeking to further develop his own musical voice. The five members first got together at an impromptu jam session. The profound musical and personal connection was immediately formed and, soon after, they decided to form what has become The Story. With their unique approach to jazz music, many quickly regarded them as the fresh new ensemble to watch out for. In addition to regularly performing in New York, The Story frequently performs tours throughout the US, Canada and Europe.
