Saxophone player Susanne Alt was born in 1978 in the German town of Würzburg. As the daughter of musically gifted parents, she went for the piano at first, to turn to the saxophone at the age of 12. She learned the true tricks of the trade at the Hilversum conservatory. Her teachers were Dutchmen like Ferdinand Povel and Jasper Blom, among others. After her studies, she worked in the orchestras of German, musical heroes like Peter Herbolzheimer and Peter Weniger. She has also played in many ensembles and theater orchestras in the Netherlands, besides being part of the Amsterdam Jazz Orchestra and The Funk Soul Sisters. Since 2004, Alt has been producing albums under her own name.
Susanne Alt Quartet on Track is her third and latest CD and she wrote nearly every track on it. Alt's playing is explosive and adventurous and that can be fully experienced on the stage.
