In the 70s, the English pianist
John Taylor was primarily known as the sideman of greats like drummer Peter Erskine, saxophonist Lee Konitz and bassist Marc Johnson. In 2002, with this same Johnson and drummer Joey Baron, he formed a new trio and began his 'own' career. Two years later, he recorded the album
Nightfall with bassist Charlie Haden and trumpeter Kenny Wheeler. Over the past ten years, Taylor has mainly focused on two projects: his trio with Palle Danielson and Martin France and a project in which these two musicians are joined by saxophonist Julian Argüelles. In addition,Taylor (still) plays together with Kenny Wheeler and multi-instrumentalist John Surman.
