The
Bart Lust Quintet is known on the international jazz scene for its completely individual style and sound. High Energy Modal Jazz - the band itself came up with the name - is indeed the best and most fitting description of the hot mix of trombone and tenor sax, combined with a brilliant and intense rhythm section. The Bart Lust Quartet's repertoire is mainly provided by the band leader and arranger Lust, who has played with, among others, the New Cool Collective and the New Generation Big Band. The numbers written by the trombonist are a refined blend of American and European style elements. Add to this the individual qualities of the rest of the band and you have a super-combo with Dutch roots and an international sound. Last year, the Bart Lust Quintet released its debut album
Don't Touch the Bell. Mainstream jazz fans mustn't miss this act at the North Sea Jazz Festival.
