For many years, this tenor and soprano sax player has been at the cutting edge of the jazz scenes both in the Netherlands and the Benelux.
Jasper Blom won the European Jazz Award twice and he has performed at jazz festivals all over the world. Blom, who also teaches at the Amsterdam Conservatory of Music, has a reputation mainly as an improviser. His quartet includes the talented Dutch guitarist Jesse van Ruller, winner of, among other things, the Thelonious Monk Award. Drummer Martijn Vink (Metropole Orkest) and bassist Frans van der Hoeven complete the line-up. The quartet's music is based around Blom's compositions. His clear view and desire for innovation have resulted in albums that include
Statue of Liberty that was released last year. On this album you can hear how Blom has grown into a saxophonist and band leader with a completely individual style who fears neither innovation nor experimentation.
