Myriam Gaasbeek is a twenty year old who sings and produces music with the ease of someone with many years of experience. She had already won 'De Kunstbende' at the age of seventeen. And one of her first songs,
The Gods Must Be Crazy, immediately became the title song of the film
Ik omhels je met duizend armen (I embrace You with a Thousand Arms), based on the book of the same name written by Ronald Giphart. She has effortlessly maintained that high level as proved by her most recent productions
I Got You and
From Now On. With these two songs, Gaasbeek, together with five other artists, was selected for the
Take Six project, set up for rising talents who combine pop and jazz. The result appeared on the recent collective CD
Take Six released by Muziek Centrum Nederland (MCN). Gaasbeek's range is broad and she appeals to fans of Norah Jones and John Legend, as well as lovers of Billie Holiday and Aretha Franklin.
