The Dutch singer
Wouter Hamel had a lot of success in the Netherlands and far beyond with his debut album
Hamel. Definitely in Japan, where he has the country at his feet. In early 2009, Hamel made a promotional tour in Japan. The singer, who lives in Amsterdam, writes his own songs and his influences are diverse. His second CD entitled
Nobody's Tune was released in early 2009. There is more musical variation on this album and you can hear influences from pop, klezmer and even Caribbean music. Hamel has also gone deeper with his lyrics. The singer is a born optimist: 'For me, writing songs is never therapy. I'm just doing my job. And I approach composing in the same way. I have seized some things in life, others I was born with.' At the age of 32, Hamel is still green in the jazz world but this all-rounder has everything it takes to become a huge international star.
