For years, jazz fans across the globe hoped that it would happen. Two years ago their long wait was rewarded: the legendary bassists
Stanley Clarke,
Marcus Miller and
Victor Wooten joined forces for the first time as
SMV and played in a jam session at a gala evening in New York. The jazz stars enjoyed themselves so much that they recorded an album entitled
Thunder (2008) and went on tour together. Of course, the North Sea Jazz Festival cannot do without this unique act with the best bassists of their generation. The American greats let their instruments resound like never before. With a mix of heavy grooves, harmonious chords and, most of all, fantastically musical compositions, SMV lifts the bass guitar to unparalleled heights. Although the three men are great soloists, it is precisely the combination of their talents, experience and passion that makes an SMV concert something not to be missed.
