These are mature talents, presented to the world by the Italian branch of Blue Note. It isn't necessary though, because
Paolo Fresu and
Uri Caine already have quite a name among jazz connoisseurs. They recently released the album
Think and we can expect them to tap this source extensively. Just like on the CD, the
Alborada String Quartet will be present at the festival. It's a quartet that renders a classical touch to the music. As a critic for Jazzism hopefully uttered, it is 'an album that could be a fine starting point for a concert series.' His wish has been granted now. Another rave review: 'This is a great album that tells of the joy of playing music.' Despite the strings, trumpeter Paolo Fresu (1961) and pianist Uri Caine (1956) do actually play jazz, as they demonstrated with their musical duets. Paolo Fresu is an experienced trumpet player with a very beautiful tone and Uri Caine effortlessly follows suit. No wonder, because he used to play with the greatest jazz musicians in America but also performs as a classical pianist.
